DIY: Painting World Map On The Wall

By | On + -

We have a marvelous “DIY world map” from Ronda, shown us how to paint a giant map on a wall. Its very cool and neat and it would look great in your home. Let’s have a look at this great idea.

This is the finished product:

World map: the finished product

So what we need to create this map:

  • A projector + a world image
  • Painting tools (brush + color)
  • Sponge for texture

You see, it is too easy. Large maps are expensive… maybe this map will rescue you πŸ˜€ . So how to do it?

First thing match the colors to bed-sheets. Get 2 colors. Base that matches everything and then one shade darker:

Projector to paint  Prep the wall by painting a fresh coat. Just for awesomeness.

Trace out the outline of the still image with a fine brush

outline for images  Fill in the inside with a larger brush

Here is a shot of it mid way through

base coat  I thought it looked pretty good just like this.

Then use a texture sponge to add the mountain ranges.

It looks really good at night.

Ha ha, This is my bedroom. Someone took the pictures I posted on reddit and wrote their own story. It’s flattering really. I don’t mind you using the pictures, but if you would like to give me credit like a reasonable human being that would be cool. PS still have that mural. It’s in good shape. If you would like more original content like this I could give you a lot.
