Awesome Facts about the International Space Station

The International Space Stations (ISS) is one of the greatest human and technological achievements in our history. Space agencies from the United States, Russia, Europe, Japan and Canada have come together for a common goal in the name of science and education. It is a symbol of technological excellence and a testament to what we can achieve through collaboration and teamwork. Here are things you may not have known about the International Space Station.

1. Astronauts aboard the International Space Station see 15 sunrises and 15 sunsets a day, averaging about one every 45 minutes.

2. There is a gun in the International Space Station and it belongs to the Russians. It is for the purpose of protecting themselves against bears in case their capsule lands off-course on reentry into earth.

3. There is a geocache on the International Space Station.

4. Pizza Hut once made a delivery to the International Space Station in 2001. They paid the Russians $1 million to transport the Pizza (and make a commercial from it).

5. NASA has a service where you can register your mobile number and they will text you whenever the International Space Station passes overhead.

    I saw an interview with a female leader of the space station about a year ago on YouTube. It was intriguing seeing her float through the space station, showing us all the localities. And really funny her hair all over the place. Made me percieve better what gravity does on earth.
