NASA is working hard on a variety of scientific missions and has big plans to send a robotic mission to Jupiter’s moon Europa. Europa has long been thought to be one of the most likely locations to hold life outside of the Earth in our solar system. NASA is gearing up to launch the mission by the mid 2020s thanks to a boosted budget that it received for 2016.

Minutes before the sun dawned on the coast of central California on Saturday 31 Jan, NASA looked to the skies, and launched a critical part of its Earth Sciences mission into Low-Earth Orbit. A new study has revealed that some galaxies can die early because the gas they need to make new stars is suddenly ejected. Most galaxies stop growing when they run out of raw materials over billions of years. However, some galaxies seem to die young when they shoot out the gas they need early on.

The rare images were taken by Italian astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti aboard the International Space Station (ISS), who managed to capture the lighting at the exact second it hit the eye of the cyclone.
